Forget about Steve Job’s keynote speech. Never mind Bill Gates’, either. If you see one speech, if you watch one movie or documentary this year, if you care about this planet we live on at all, watch An Inconvenient Truth. Never mind that Al Gore got screwed out of his presidency, whether you like him or not, this is too important to ignore. There is some truly astonishing predictions here that if they come true, and so far they all have, could leave cities like New York, San Francisco, the whole of the Netherlands, and more under water in as soon as ten years. Please, do yourself a favor and educate yourself, and then start to change.

Terror-free Gas? Proof of American Stupidity?

I bet people will buy into this, too:

Claiming U.S. dollars used to purchase gasoline made from Middle East oil funds terrorism, a group called the Terror-Free Oil Initiative opened the nation’s first “terror-free” gas station.

By the way, later in the story it says that the first contributor of this group buys some of its oil from the same place that every other company does…

Oh and just to make another point… 80% of Americans didn’t buy or read a book last year. Sad.

The campaign contributor accidentally shot and wounded by Vice President Dick Cheney during a weekend quail hunt is “doing well” and will be released early this week, a spokesman at Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, said Monday.

Canada has a new Prime Minister

So many things have happened since polls closed in BC last night at 7pm. The Conservatives have the most elected seats and will form a minority government. Paul Martin has decided he will step down after his Liberal party lost this election (big surprise there). What’s really interesting to me and very very wrong with our electoral system is that the NDP received 17% of the overall votes, but only 29 seats. Compare this to the Bloc de Quebe Crap or whatever it’s called and they only have 10% of the votes while holding 50 seats in parliament! Wtf? Yeah, I can see that the will of the people was served here. Anyways, change should be good. Let’s see how long this will last. More at CBC.

Miami Police Take New Tack Against Terror

MIAMI

Miami police announced Monday they will stage random shows of force at hotels, banks and other public places to keep terrorists guessing and remind people to be vigilant.

Deputy Police Chief Frank Fernandez said officers might, for example, surround a bank building, check the IDs of everyone going in and out and hand out leaflets about terror threats.

“This is an in-your-face type of strategy. It’s letting the terrorists know we are out there,” Fernandez said.
