The riddle of China’s Area 51

On the internet, a little mystery can go a long way.

“Six weeks ago, a man living in Germany and calling himself KenGrok, announced a fascinating discovery on a Google Earth Community forum.

Poring over satellite images of China on the free Google Earth service, he came across a strange plot of land – approximately 900 metres by 700 metres, about the size of six Sydney Cricket Grounds.”

Tomorrow @ 21:30, the US war in Iraq will outgrow their involvement in WWII

On August 15, 2006 21:30 EST the United States will have been at war in Iraq longer than it was at war with Germany in World War II.

“We’re counting from the day Germany declared war on the US (December 11, 1941) to VE day (May 8, 1945). This is 1244 days. The Invasion of Iraq began on March 20, 2003 at 21:34 EST when the US began their first air strike on Baghdad.

Huge Firefox crop circle – aliens do prefer Firefox!

This past weekend, the OSU Linux Users Group descended on a field in Oregon to create a 45,000+ square foot crop circle of Firefox. The photos of this, taken from planes and helicopters, are incredible.

Novell’s giant killer: Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

I’m rather impressed. Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED) 10 is designed to do just that – impress the user from the start, with a smooth and (mostly) simple experience that will satisfy the secretary through to the MD. It does still have some areas to work on, however.
